Recommended Event - One Performance Only!

The Instant Shakespeare Company's reading of The Merchant of Venice will be presented at the St. Agnes Branch of the New York Public Library, 444 Amsterdam Avenue (at 81st) on
Saturday, June 13th at 1:00 P.M.

The entire three hour play from the Raw Shakespeare Pocket Edition of the First Folio will be performed.
The Instant Shakespeare readings are set up to make Shakespeare accessible. The readings are usually done without rehearsal, but they are on-your-feet Instant staged readings where the readers/actors move around as much as they feel comfortable. Readers are encouraged to share with their fellow readers and the audience so that the plays can exist as words and thoughts communicated through space, not just words on the page. Follow The Instant Shakespeare Company on Facebook.

Recommended Event - A Reading of Work by Women of a Certain Age

Saturday, March 2, 2013
Women of a Certain Age
Reading hosted by Sonia Pilcer, with Allyson Dinneen, Barbara Janoff, Susie Kaufman, Ellen Meeropol, and Lee Schwartz (UFT Players Executive Board member)
Mason Library, Great Barrington, MA 1–3 p.m.

Perhaps age and experience give us the courage to express things we kept under wraps when we were younger. Certainly our writing skills improve with time, as does the desire to say the unsaid. Come and hear a group of older women writers share their passions and what they know. There will be a discussion and Q&A afterward. Come and join the dialogue.

Original Plays Festival Wrap-Up (for now!)

The first two installments of this season's Original Plays Festival, which took place on October 14th & 20th, were a resounding success...with both the audiences and the playwrights who valued the opportunity to discuss the artistic "process" during the talk-back sessions at the end of each evening's readings. There will be an additional night (Series C) of new original plays read in December.
