Comedies, dramas on the bill

Six one-act plays put on by the UFT Players made for an evening of solid entertainment as the ensemble, for its eighth year, performed staged readings to a full house at UFT headquarters on Dec. 7. Group members produced, wrote and starred in the new productions, which included comedies about the angst of waiting on a date to call, the vagaries of corporate speak, dining with an overbearing mother-in-law and the petty tyrannies of weight-loss instructors. Dramas included two teacher job applicants chatting as they wait to be interviewed by an otherwise preoccupied principal and the visions of a pair of assassins in the hours leading up to the shooting of Indira Gandhi. A discussion with the theater-going audience followed the plays.
What wonderful evenings (Dec 6&7) which showcased so much talent! From the creative playwrights, to the people "behind the scenes," everyone involved
