What the Dickens!

"What the Dickens!" a play celebrating the bicentennial anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens  will be presented by the UFT Players on Thursday and Friday February 16th and 17th at UFT headquarters (50 Broadway) in Manhattan. Show time is 6 PM for both evenings and admission is free.

Co-authored by Warren Wyss and Milton Polsky, the play takes place in 1867 on a train from Boston to NYC. Dickens, who is traveling incognito, reluctantly agrees to observe the rehearsal of an amateur theater company (traveling on the same train), that is performing scenes from Dickens' own works. During the course of the rehearsal, Dickens' identity is revealed and he is won over by the charming company.

The play, approximately one hour in length and performed without an intermission, will also be produced at the Tompkins Square branch of the NYPL  on March 10th.
